The rupee was trading strong by 19 paise at 62.01 in the evening session on dollar selling by banks and exporters and on the back of dollar's weakness against other currencies overseas.
After opening strong by 15 paise to 62.05 against the US dollar at the Interbank Foreign Exchange market, the domestic unit hovered in the range of 61.98 and 62.07 in the evening trade.
The rupee had ended 11 paise higher at 62.20 against the US currency in yesterday’s trade on increased selling of the American unit.
Meanwhile, the benchmark BSE Sensex ended flat as caution prevailed ahead of expiry of February derivatives contracts tomorrow and the Union Budget to be announced on February 28.
