The S&P 500 SPX, +0.20% opened up 6 points, or 0.3%, to 2,088. The Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, +0.21% added 58 points, or 0.3%, to 17,962. The Nasdaq Composite COMP, +0.35% began the session up 20 points, or 0.4%, to 4,969.
