TORONTO -- The Canadian dollar and U.S. stock index futures were negative early Tuesday morning.
The Dow Jones industrial futures were down 254.0 points at 16,202.0, the S&P 500 futures declined 31.90 points to 1,931.2 and the Nasdaq futures lost 83.5 points to 4,257.8.
The Canadian dollar was down 0.18 of a U.S. cent at 75.32 cents US.
On the commodity markets, the December gold contract fell $4.10 to US$1,128.70 an ounce, the November crude contract was down $1.20 at US$45.76 and the October contract for natural gas was up two cents at US$2.57.
On Monday, Toronto's S&P/TSX index closed up 132.54 points at 13,779.44, although well off its highs of earlier in the day.
