TMS: Canadian dollar, U.S. index futures up ahead of TSX opening
 
TORONTO — The Canadian dollar was up about one-third of a cent shortly before details of a major trade agreement were to be announced.

The Canadian dollar was up of a 0.32 of a U.S. cent at 76.28 cents US shortly before a press conference on the Trans-Pacific Partnership negotiations.

The Dow Jones industrial futures were up 113 points at 16,490.0 before markets opened, the S&P 500 futures advanced 12.3 points to 1,955.4 and the Nasdaq futures gained 25.7 points to 4,287.0.

On the commodity markets, the December gold contract fell $1.20 to US$1,135.40 an ounce, the November crude contract was up 53 cents at US$46.07 a barrel and the November contract for natural gas was down one cent at US$2.44.

On Friday, the S&P/TSX index in Toronto closed out a volatile week with a 97.85-point gain to close at 13,339.74.
