MW: U.S. stocks end lower as oil rout resumes
 
U.S. stocks ended slightly lower on Monday, as a rout in oil prices, which pulled back from last week's rally, weighed on the main benchmarks. All three main indexes ended in the red, with the S&P 500 and the Dow industrials in negative territory for the year. The S&P 500 energy sector was the worst performer, tumbling 1.79%, followed by the materials sector, down 0.76%. Consumer discretionary was the best performer on the S&P, up 0.26%, followed by the utilities sector, up 0.19%. The S&P 500 SPX, -0.22% fell 4.48 points, or 0.22%, to 2,056. The Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, -0.14% fell 23.7 points, or 0.14%, to 17,528. The Nasdaq Composite COMP, -0.15% ended the session 7.51 points lower, or 0.15%, at 5,040.
