MW: Dollar little changed after latest round of U.S. data

The dollar showed little immediate reaction Thursday after reports showed U.S. jobless claims rose, while producer prices fell and manufacturing in the New York region were not as weak as expected. The dollar index , which measures the U.S. unit against a basket of six major counterparts, stood at 84.43 compared with 84.313 ahead of the data. The Labor Department said initial claims for unemployment benefits rose 54,000 to 524,000 in the week ended Jan. 10. Separate reports showed producer prices fell less than predicted last month and manufacturing in the New York area this month was not as weak as in December.
