Indian rupee strengthened against the greenback in early trade on account of weak dollar and firm opening of the Asian and the Indian equity markets.
The partially convertible rupee stood at 48.64 against the dollar, appreciating up to 0.33% than its previous close of 48.79/80 a dollar.
Asian stocks gained led by higher commodity prices. US proposals to shore up the world`s largest economy, a weaker yen boosted the outlook for earnings.
