RTRS: Nikkei down but off 2-month low, yen hits exporters
Japan's Nikkei stock average lost 0.2 percent on Thursday and hit a 2-month low as the yen held near a 13-year high on growing anxiety about global banking woes, hitting exporters such as Honda Motor Co (7267.T). Sony Corp (6758.T) lost 2.7 percent after the Nikkei business daily reported the company will cut more than 2,000 full-time jobs as it moves manufacturing bases, and that it will announce the plan along with a downward revision to its earnings outlook on Thursday.
The benchmark Nikkei .N225 lost 12.03 points to 7,889.61 after earlier falling as far as 7,809.89, its lowest since Nov 21, erasing losses after the dollar clawed back above 89 yen.
