RTRS: Nikkei at 2-mth closing low, hit by Sony and economy
Japan's Nikkei stock average lost 3.8 percent on Friday to mark its lowest close in two months after Sony Corp's (6758.T) warning of a massive loss fed fears about the electronics sector amid growing economic gloom at home and abroad. Steel firms tumbled after Nippon Steel Corp (5401.T) announced production cuts, while oil-linked firms slid as oil headed down towards $43 a barrel.
The benchmark Nikkei .N225 shed 306.49 points to 7,745.25, its lowest close since Nov 20, for its third straight negative week -- a streak unseen in nearly four months.
