The Sensex opened 60 points lower at 9,364, and has since extedned losses and is now down 230 points at 9,195.
DLF has slumped over 11% to Rs 157. Sterlite has plunged nearly 5% to Rs 263.
HDFC has tumbled 4.5% to Rs 1,468. Jaiprakash Associates has shed over 4% at Rs 73.
Tata Steel, Bharti Airtel, Wipro and Reliance Communications have slipped around 3.5% each to Rs 178, Rs 611, Rs 223 and Rs 164, respectively.
SBI, Reliance Infrastructure and Hindalco have dropped over 3% each to Rs 1,115, Rs 564 and Rs 48, respectively.
ICICI Bank, Tata Motors and ONGC have declined 3% each to Rs 404, Rs 145 and Rs 639, respectively.
Maruti, however, has advanced 1.5% to Rs 579.
