SAM: Sensex reverses; down by 16 pts in early trade
The Sensex declined marginally by 16.22 points to 9,185.63 in the early trade at the Bombay Stock Exchange here today due to mild selling pressure in select counters in spite of higher advices from other Asian markets.
Asian indices exhibited a firm trend early morning, led by mining and shipping companies, on speculation that stimulus in China will boost demand for metals and transport services. The Key benchmark indices in Hong Kong, China, Singapore, South Korea and Taiwan were up between 0.06 per cent and 2.74 per cent.
The 30-share barometer resumed higher at 9,241.56 in the opening trade, but declined afterwards to 9,168.36 before quoting at 9,185.63 at 1030 hrs showing a loss of 16.22 points or 0.18 per cent from the previous close.
The broad-based 50-issue Nifty of the National Stock Exchange also moved down marginally by 2.30 points or 0.08 per cent to 2,800.75 from last close.
