RTRS: Euro extends losses after ECB's comments on economy
The euro extended losses and traded at session lows versus the U.S. dollar on Thursday after European Central Bank president Jean-Claude Trichet said the euro area is undergoing an extended downturn. For details, see [ID:nFAE002815]
The euro fell to a session low of $1.2760 from $1.2784 as Trichet began speaking at a press conference. The euro last traded 0.4 percent lower on the day at $1.2780.
