GL: U.S. dollar mostly lower in European morning trading
LONDON — The U.S. dollar was mostly lower against other major currencies in European trading Wednesday morning. Gold rose.
The euro traded at US$1.2872, up from US$1.2868 late Tuesday in New York.
Other dollar rates:
Tokyo - 89.95 Japanese yen, down from 90.29
Zurich - 1.1535 Swiss francs, down from 1.1586
London - 1.2446 Canadian dollars, down from 1.2484
The British pound was quoted at US$1.4361, down from $1.4486.
In Toronto, the Canadian dollar opened at 80.25 cents US, up 0.01 of a cent from Tuesday. The U.S. dollar stood at C$1.2461, down 0.01 of a cent.
The New York Mercantile Exchange gold futures closed on Tuesday at US$914.20, up $21.40.
