MC: Sensex, Nifty up 3.5% this week; CG, auto, banks gain
 
Sensex ended with a gain of 3.5% and Nifty with 3.7% this week. Among broader indices, CNX Midcap, BSE Small-cap and Nifty Junior indices were up 3.5-4.5%.

Capital goods, auto and banking sectors were the top three gainers, respective indices gained 7.7%, 6.5% and 5.5%. Siemens shot up 15.5%, L&T up 10%, and BHEL & Suzlon jumped 7.5% each in the capital goods space.

M&M shot up 17% and Maruti up 8.5% in the auto segment. Banking stocks like SBI and ICICI Bank went up 7% each. HDFC Bank gained 5%.

Huge buying was also seen in realty space, wherein DLF surged 16.5% and Unitech gained 11%. Idea shot up 14.5% and Reliance Communication was up 12.5% in the telecom space.

Among frontliners, Nalco was up 11%, Zee Entertainment up 10% and HDFC gained 9% while HCL Tech lost 9%, Ranbaxy was down 5% and ABB fell 3.5%.

In the small-cap space, Piramal Life shot up 70% and Hexaware jumped 55%. S Kumars Nationwide gained 20% and Spice Communication rose 18%.

Educomp was up 48%, and India Infoline & Jain Irrigation went up 19% each in the midcap space.

Fertilizer stocks were also buzzing; National Fertilisers and FACT went up 40% each. RCF was up 21%.

Railway-related stocks had gained ahead of Railway Budget, which got announced today. Kernex Micro was up 36% and Titagarh Wagons up 30%. Texmaco shot up 26%.

Among media stocks, Dish TV shot up 20% and WWIL up 5%. Cinemax and Jagran went up 17% each. HT Media was up 13%.
