MW: Oil and gas stocks join broader market rebound
Energy stocks opened Thursday trading in the green, though Apache Corp. saw its shares sit out the market advance, down 1.4% after the company said it swung to a fourth-quarter loss. The Amex Oil Index added 2.5% to 888 points, the Amex Natural Gas Index gained 1% to 356 points, and the Philadelphia Oil Service Sector Index rose 3.7% to 124 points. Oil prices supported the advance, with crude tacking on 4% early to $35.96 a barrel.
