MW: Dollar stays up after GDP revised lower

The U.S. dollar remained higher Friday after a government report said the economy grew even slower than economists were bracing for in the fourth quarter. The dollar index , which measures the currency against a trade-weighted basket of six global counterparts, rose to 88.433 from 87.880 in late North American trading Thursday. The euro fell to $1.2623 from $1.2735. The U.S. currency was higher earlier as safe-haven flows resumed amid renewed declined in equity markets.
