RTRS: India chana futures seen a tad up on spot demand

India chana futures may open slightly higher on Tuesday on improvement in the spot demand, but higher output estimates may cap gains, analysts said.

Spot demand has improved due to Holi festival and ongoing wedding season, they added.

The federal farm ministry last month said output may rise by 13.7 percent to 6.54 million tonnes in 2008/09 compared with 5.75 million tonnes a year ago.

The April contract NCHJ9 on the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange (NCDEX) ended up 1.52 percent at 2,267 rupees per 100 kg in the previous trading session.

GUAR:

India guar futures may trade higher on a revival in export demand triggered by a falling rupee, analysts said.

The Indian rupee has shed about 5 percent so far during the year, and hit a record low of 52.20 per dollar last week.

A weak rupee will make Indian offerings attractive in the dollar-based global trade. India controls about 80 percent of the worldwide market for guar products, according to the government trade promotion council for the commodity.

April futures contract NGUJ9 last ended 0.19 percent higher at 1,587 rupees per 100 kg.
