Indian rupee strengthened against the greenback in the early trades amidst hopes of fresh capital inflows by foreign funds into domestic equity markets.
The partially convertible rupee was quoted at 51.70 a dollar, edging higher by 0.77% than its previous close of 51.87/89.
India`s bench mark index, the 30-share index, BSE Sensex opened with a gain of 114.38 points, at 8,274.78 on Thursday, March 12.
