AFP: US dollar up, gold rises in morning Europe trading
LONDON: The US dollar was mostly higher against other major currencies in European trading Thursday morning. Gold rose.
The euro traded at $1.2781, down from $1.2803 late Wednesday in New York.
Other dollar rates: 96.33 Japanese yen, down from 97.27 1.1562 Swiss francs, up from 1.1545 _1.2892 Canadian dollars, up from 1.2885 The British pound was quoted at $1.3764, down from $1.3848. Gold traded in London at $914.50 per troy ounce, up from $899.50 late Wednesday.
