MW: U.S. stocks futures rise further as trade gap narrows
U.S. stock futures posted further gains in pre-opening trade Friday, after a report showed the U.S. trade deficit narrowed to a six-year low, a lower gap than economists expectated. Futures for the S&P 500 were up 8.20 756.60 while those for the Dow Jones Industrial Average were up 65 points at 7,178. Nasdaq 100 futures were up 5.8 points at 1,168.5. The U.S. trade deficit narrowed by 9.7% in January to $36.0 billion, the lowest monthly gap since October 2002, the Commerce Department said Friday. The trade deficit was below the consensus forecast of Wall Street economists of a deficit of $38.0 billion.
