MW: Europe stocks flatten out by late morning trade
European stocks saw gains evaporated in late morning trade, with the FTSE 100 down 1.2% to 3,905.84 in London and the pan-European Dow Jones Stoxx 600 up a fraction to 177.79. Banks and insurers, the leaders of the earlier advance, both declined, and metals producers had a particularly tough time, with Antofagasta down nearly 7% and Anglo American off 6.6%.
