MW: U.S. stock futures slightly trim losses after spending data
U.S. stock futures trimmed losses ever so slightly early on Friday, after the government reported that consumer spending fell 0.2% in February after rising by a three-year high of 0.7% in January. Futures for the S&P 500 index stood at 819.10, down 8.20 points, compared with 817.40 ahead of the data. Nasdaq 100 futures fell 6.5 points to 1,266.50. Dow industrial futures dropped 71 points to 7,778. Futures were already under pressure early Friday after a week in which stocks have rallied 8% amid hopes the economy has begun to stabilize.
