The U.S. dollar continued to trade mixed against other major currencies after reports showed a decline in initial jobless claims and a plunge in U.S. housing starts. The dollar index , a measure of the greenback against a trade-weighted basket of currencies, traded at 85.03 compared with 85.239 earlier in the session. The dollar fell 0.3% to 99.01 Japanese yen, while the euro dropped 0.1% to $1.3199. The British pound fell 0.6% to $1.4899.
