New Delhi, Apr 29 Crude oil futures shed 0.23 per cent in early trade on the Multi Commodity Exchange after prices of the commodity dipped below USD 50 barrel in the global markets.
At 1030 hrs on the MCX, crude oil for the May contract moved down by 0.23 per cent to Rs 2,565 per barrel. The contract clocked 58 lots.
The oil for delivery in June also traded 0.12 per cent down at Rs 2,496 per barrel.
Market analysts said the persistent fall in crude oil prices was due to concerns that the outbreak of swine flu may discourage travel and dent global demand for crude.
