MW: Gold rises as housing starts fall to record low
Gold futures rose Tuesday as data showed U.S. April housing starts fell to a record low and as crude oil hit a six-month high, increasing gold's appeal as a safe asset and as a hedge against inflation. Gold for June delivery was last up $3.70, or 0.4%, at $925.40 on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange.
