Gold climbed in New York as the dollar deepened its slump, boosting demand for the metal as a store of value.
Gold futures for August delivery rose $2.10, or 0.2 percent, to $982.10 an ounce at 8:23 a.m. on the New York Mercantile Exchange’s Comex division. The U.S. Dollar Index, a six-currency gauge, declined for the fourth straight session.
