MW: Gold, silver continue to slide as dollar rises
NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Gold and silver futures continued to slide Thursday as the U.S. dollar strengthened against its major rivals for a second day. Also pushing the precious metals lower, U.S. stock futures were indicating a higher opening on Wall Street, reducing the metals' appeal as a safe asset. Gold for June delivery fell $3.60, or 0.4%, to $960.90 an ounce in early North American electronic trading, while July silver lost 17 cents, or 1.1%, to $15.14 an ounce.
