RTRS: Dollar edges up vs yen after retail sales data
NEW YORK, June 11 (Reuters) - The dollar edged higher against the yen on Thursday after data showing a rise in U.S. retail sales and a slight decline in first-time jobless claims boosted hopes that the worst of the recession was over.
The dollar pushed up to around 98.55 yen after the data, from about 98.38 yen earlier. The euro dipped briefly to $1.3945 before returning to $1.3960 . (Editing by Theodore d'Afflisio)
