LONDON (MarketWatch) -- European shares were mixed on Friday, with mineral extractors advancing as BHP Billiton (BHP 55.45, +0.19, +0.34%) (UK:BLT 1,399, +23.00, +1.67%) shares rose 1.7% and Xstrata (UK:XTA 670.00, +12.50, +1.91%) shares climbed 2.3%. However, automakers lost ground, with Porsche (DE:PAH3 44.01, -0.96, -2.14%) shares down 2%. The U.K. FTSE 100 index advanced 0.1% to 4,285.20, the German DAX index lost 0.2% to 4,828.86 and the French CAC-40 index slipped 0.2% to 3,186.82. |
