NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Gold futures ended slightly higher on Tuesday following a volatile trading session. Gold for August delivery gained $3.30 to end at $924.30 an ounce on the New York Mercantile Exchange. The precious metal is stuck in a trading range ahead of what Wednesday's monetary-policy statement from the Federal Open Market Committee will say.
