MW: Asian markets decline in light volumes
 
HONG KONG (MarketWatch) -- Asian markets traded mostly lower early Monday, with energy-related stocks such as Inpex Corp. (JP:1605 735,000, -12,000, -1.61%) and BHP Billiton (BHP 53.58, 0.00, 0.00%) (AU:BHP 32.74, -0.67, -2.00%) dropping. Still, trading volumes were lower in the wake of cues from Wall Street. The Nikkei 225 Average fell 0.5% to 9,766.16, taking losses into a fourth straight session, while the Topix Index slipped 0.1% to 919.29. Australia's S&P/ASX 200 shed 0.8%, South Korea's Kospi gave up 0.1%, and New Zealand's NZX 50 was flat.
