BLBG: Copper Climbs in N.Y. for Second Day as Oil, Equities Rally
July 14 (Bloomberg) -- Copper prices rose in New York as oil and equity indexes rallied, prompting speculation that demand for the metal used in wires and pipes will expand.
Copper futures for September delivery jumped 6.1 cents, or 2.7 percent, to $2.284 a pound at 8:11 a.m. on the New York Mercantile Exchange’s Comex division. The metal rose 0.5 percent yesterday. Crude-oil prices climbed as much as 2.7 percent in New York and major equity indexes posted gains in Asia and Europe.
