| NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- U.S. stocks were up slightly in morning trade Tuesday, as traders weighed the latest data on business inventories after receiving an early boost from upbeat results at Goldman Sachs and June retail sales. The Dow Jones Industrial Average (INDU 8,334, +2.56, +0.03%) was up 4 points, at 8,336 , the S&P 500 index (SPX 900.43, -0.62, -0.07%) was up 0.2 points at 901, while the Nasdaq Composite (COMP 1,791, -2.02, -0.11%) was down 1 point, or 0.1%, at 1,792. The Commerce Department said inventories at U.S. businesses fell 1.0% in May, mostly in-line with expectations. |
