MW: Gold falls slightly, ending 3-day winning streak

By Moming Zhou
NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Gold futures moved slightly lower Thursday, ending their three-day winning streak, as investment demand for the metal remained weak. Holdings in the SPDR Gold Trust (GLD 92.23, -0.01, -0.01%) , the biggest gold exchange-traded fund, stood at 1,094.54 metric tons Wednesday, according to latest data from the fund. That's nearly 40 metric tons lower than a month ago. Buying positions held by investors on gold futures fell in the week ended July 7 for a fifth week, according to the latest Commitments of Traders report. August gold futures traded on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange fell 0.1% to $938.50 an ounce in early North American trading.
