RTTN: Indian Rupee Climbs To 12-day High Against Dollar
(RTTNews) - Monday, the Indian rupee soared to a 12-day high against the U.S. dollar as the local stock market rose more than 2%, while the dollar's weakness against major currencies overseas also underpinned sentiment.
At 2:44 pm IST, the 30-share BSE index was up 2.9 percent at 15,166.52 points, with 24 stocks gaining, after climbing to as high as 15,188.78. The 50-share NSE index was up 2.7 percent at 4,494.15.
Currently, the rupee is trading at a 12-day high of 48.2150 against the dollar with 48.0 seen as the next target level. At Friday's close, the dollar-rupee pair was quoted at 48.5750.
