RTTN: Indian Rupee Falls To 5-day Low Against Dollar
(RTTNews) - Wednesday, the Indian rupee plunged to a 5-day low against the dollar as the local stocks closed lower today as weak European markets dented sentiment and pushed investors to take profits on a recent rally.
The 30-share BSE index ended down 221.86 points at 14,480.63. The 50-share NSE index closed down 1.5% at 4,402.35.
The Indian rupee slumped to a 5-day low of 48.6850 against the dollar and this may be compared to Tuesday's North American session close of 48.33. If the Indian currency edges down further, it may test support around the 48.92 level.
The rupee has lost 2% against the dollar after it reached a 15-day high of 47.8750 yesterday.
