RTRS: Nikkei hits highest in 9 months on earnings hopes
TOKYO (Reuters) - Japan's Nikkei average rose to its highest level in more than nine months on Monday on growing hopes for better-than-expected Japanese corporate earnings and an economic recovery, with wireless carrier Softbank (9984.T: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) jumping.
The benchmark Nikkei .N225 climbed 2.4 percent or 235.04 points to 10,179.59, its highest since October.
The broader Topix .TOPX advanced 1.7 percent to 935.97.
