NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- U.S. stocks wavered at Monday's start, as investors pondered disappointing earnings results from Aetna Inc. (AET 25.06, -1.38, -5.22%) and Honeywell International Inc. (HON 33.82, -0.17, -0.50%) and ahead of data on new home sales in June. After closing at its highest level since early November, the Dow Jones Industrial Average (INDU 9,081, -12.69, -0.14%) fell 5.14 points to 9,088.10. The S&P 500 Index (SPX 977.28, -1.98, -0.20%) held near flat at 978.98, while the Nasdaq Composite (COMP 1,960, -5.74, -0.29%) slumped less than 1 point to 1,965.29. |
