LONDON (MarketWatch) -- European shares were in a tight range early Wednesday, with shares of steel giant ArcelorMittal (NL:MT 24.27, -1.06, -4.19%) down 7.3% and natural gas producer BG Group (UK:BG. 1,068, -14.00, -1.29%) down 3.8% after updating investors on a busy day for corporate earnings. Still, there were some earnings-related gainers as well, with Bayer (DE:BAY 41.92, +1.96, +4.91%) shares up 3.4% and Peugeot (FR:UG 19.96, +1.54, +8.34%) shares up 4.7%. The U.K. FTSE 100 index declined 0.2% to 4,521.67, the German DAX index rose 0.1% to 5,178.18 and the French CAC-40 index rise 0.1% to 3,334.89. |
