NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- U.S. stock losses deepened Wednesday, with defensive sectors pacing the drop, after economic data included a report pointing to ongoing contraction in non-manufacturing industries. The Dow Jones Industrial Average (INDU 9,224, -95.75, -1.03%) fell 102.7 points to 9,217.49. The S&P 500 (SPX 996.81, -8.84, -0.88%) shed 10.51 points to 995.15, while the Nasdaq Composite (COMP 1,990, -21.52, -1.07%) dropped 23.46 points to 1,987.85. |
