MUMBAI, Aug 6 (Reuters) - India domestic gold trading remained thin as most of the banks, the primary sellers of gold, were shut due to a strike, dealers said.
"Volumes are affected as our branches are shut," said a dealer with a state-run bank in Mumbai. "We expect demand to pick-up due to festivals."

India's gold demand had picked-up as traders replenished stocks to meet festive demand, that will last till December.
Gold prices remained flat as currency markets awaited direction from an interest rate decision of the European Central Bank. The most-traded gold October contract MAUV9 was almost flat at 14,908 rupees per 10 grams at 1:43 p.m.
The European Central Bank is expected to keep interest rates on hold at a record low as it waits to see the impact of efforts so far to revive the economy and credit flows. See [ID:nL622515]
