NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Crude oil and gold futures rose on Thursday, after the government reported U.S. jobless claims fell 14,000 to a seasonally adjusted 442,000 in the latest week. Economists surveyed by MarketWatch expected claims to fall to 450,000. Crude oil for May delivery gained 22 cents, or 0.4%, at $80.89 a barrel in electronic trade. Gold for May was up $4.70, or 0.4%, at $1,094.10 an ounce.
