ET: FTSE tipped to open firmly higher, metals stocks a focus
PRE-OPEN REPORT: Headline shares are tipped to open twenty-five to thirty points higher today, according to financial websites, taking a lead from strong gains in metals stocks in Asian trade this morning.
ASIAN MARKETS
In Asia today, the Nikkei was up 129.43 points at 11,333.77, while the Hang Seng ended the morning ahead 34.79 points at 22,243.29.
Crude oil traded at $85.33 a barrel on Nymex.
Gold settled at $1,166 an ounce.
LONDON MARKETS
In a quiet corporate diary today, interim results are due from Carr's Milling Industries and YouGov.
Final results are scheduled from Globaltrans Investment, Networkers International and Vernalis.
Trading statements are expected from E2V Technologies and XP Power.
