MW: Crude, gold futures up slighly after U.S. jobs

NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Crude oil and gold futures rose early Friday, after the Labor Department said the U.S. economy added 290,000 jobs in April, even as unemployment climbed to 9.9%. Economists surveyed by MarketWatch expected the economy to add 185,000 jobs, with the jobless rate holding steady at 9.7%. Crude oil for June delivery was up 5 cents at $77.16 a barrel and gold futures gained $3.10, or 0.3%, at $1,200.50 an ounce.
