NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Crude oil and gold futures stayed lower on Thursday, after news that showed U.S. jobless claims fell to 444,000 in the latest week. Crude oil for May delivery fell 85 cents, or 1.1%, to $74.78 a barrel. Gold May futures, which hit a record in the previous session, fell $4.40, or 0.4%, at $1,238.80 an ounce.
