TORONTO - The Canadian dollar opened at 97.49 cents US, down 0.50 of a cent from Thursday's close.
The U.S. dollar stood at 102.57 cents Cdn, up 0.52 of a cent.
Pound sterling was worth C$1.4934, up 0.17 of a cent and US$1.4560, down 0.57 of a cent.
The euro was worth C$1.2798, up 0.06 of a cent.
