IN: US Stocks Decline As The Efforts To Cap Oil Leak Fails
The US stocks fell on Tuesday and most of the shares of energy companies fell as the trading resumed after the weekend. Stocks of the US fell after British Petroleum said that the efforts to restrict the oil leak in the Gulf of Mexico were unsuccessful.
The Dow Jones Industrial average fell 112.61 points or 1.11% to 10,024.02 while the Standard’s and Poor’s 500 Index slid 18.7 points or 1.72% to 1,070.71. The NASDAQ Composite Index dropped 34.71% or 1.54% to 2,222.33, reports said.
Meanwhile, the US dollar increased against Euro to 81.73 Euro cents while the greenback rose against the Japanese Yen to 91.01 Yen from 90.89 Yen.
Besides, the country is also investigating whether to file criminal charges against those accountable for the huge oil spill.
