LT: Rupee posts early gains backed by sharemarket
 
The rupee gathered strength on Thursday on the back of gains achieved in the local share market. The gains were also because dollar had posted losses as against other major currencies.

The rupee was at 46.58/59 at 9.04 as against the Wednesday’s close of 46.98/99. earlier ion Thursday, the main stock index was up over one percent after the sentiment rose on the back of solid U.S data.

The dollar was down 0.4 as compared to six major currencies. However, the euro remained was sensitive to the reports of the euro zone under debt crisis.

All other Asian currencies were stronger than dollar and that also help in boosting the rupee sentiment.
