The benchmark NZX50 index closed up 5 points, or 0.2%, to 30 24 on turnover of $22 million, on Thursday.
Fletcher Building was unchanged at $8.20, Telecom down 3 cents to $1.83 and Contact Energy up 1 cents to $5.77.
Fisher & Paykel Healthcare was down 2 cents to $3.16 and Fisher & Paykel Appliances 1 cent to 55 cents.
Sky City Entertainment Group fell 3 cents to $2.85 and Sky Network Television 2 cents to $4.60.
Across the Tasman, the ASX 200 index was up 99 points, or 2.2%, to 44 80.
On currency markets, the NZ dollar was at 68.46 US, 80.86 Australian, 46.51 pence, 63.18 yen and 0.5575 euro. The TWI was at 66.54.
