MW: European shares on track for eighth gain in a row

LONDON (MarketWatch) -- European shares were higher on Friday morning, with the index on track for its eighth straight session of gains amid retreating worries about sovereign. Miners were higher, with Rio Tinto (UK:RIO 3,320, 0.00, 0.00%) up 1.2% and Antofagasta (UK:ANTO 868.00, 0.00, 0.00%) shares up 1.4%. Oil giant BP tacked on 0.6%. The U.K. FTSE 100 index rose 0.3% to 5,267.93, the German DAX index advanced 0.1% to 6,228.62 and the French CAC-40 index rose 0.3% to 3,692.16.
